CHIEF WHIP HANDS-OVER A BRAND NEW HOUSE TO A 101-YEAR-OLD PENSIONER

Ekurhuleni ANC Caucus lead by ANC Chief Whip Cllr Jongizizwe Dlabathi handed-over a brand new house to Gogo Skosana on Mandela Day in Chief Luthuli, Ward 25, in Daveyton on Thursday, 18 July 2019.
“We thank the community of ward 25 for alerting us when they saw the living condition in which they found Gogo Skosana in. Today we are happy that a commitment that was made earlier this year torelocatea pensioner to a proper housing environment has been fulfilled” ANC Ekurhuleni Chief Whip Cllr Dlabathi said.
The 101-year old pensioner has never owned a house in her life. She has been living with her family in a shack situated in an isolated plot, away from communities at Masakhane plot 16.
Dlabathi said, because as a caring ANC government because it is their responsibility to demonstrate that this government is able to reach out to all the citizens in Ekurhuleni.
This year we are celebrating 10th year anniversary of the 67 minutes campaign since Nelson Mandela died almost 6 years ago.
“Today Gogo is receiving this house inspired by the spirit and character of Tata Nelson Mandela who always taught that Human solidarity is important and that at all times we must be at service to the people” he said.
Dlabathi thanked thank the department of human settlement and the City’s Executive Mayor for ensuring that Gogo Skosana receives a decent house.
We appeal to the family that this house to take care of the house and it is not for sale.
City’s government has committed to build 100 000 houses and 59 service stands. An emotional pensioner thanked all those who supported and donations she received on the day.
She said, “Finally I’m relieved that I will be staying in a house of my own”
