TITLE DEEDS FRIDAY REACHES DUDUZA RESIDENTS

Member of Mayoral Committee for Human Settlement Cllr Lesiba Mpya, MMC for Community Services Dora Mlambo and Chief Whip of Council Cllr Jongizizwe Dlabathi handed-out 110 Title Deeds as part of Tittle Deeds Friday at Monty Motloung Hall in Duduza on Friday, 03 August 2018. Addressing the recipients MMC for Human Settlement said “We’ll continue to hand-out the Title Deeds every Friday because we strongly believe that by giving our people this important document is to ensure that everybody has a security of tenure”. He further said “key to the ANC led government manifesto commitment is to give our people a sense of ownership”. However, Cllr Mpya also pleaded with the recipients not sell this piece of document because it is an important document that belongs to the entire family and the generation to come.
One of the recipients, 98-year-old pensioner from Duduza said she’s now relived that she has document that affirms her as the owner of the house. “This document is important to me and grandchildren, I therefore would like to thank the government giving us this document”. Earlier this year, President Cyril Ramaphosa during his Thuma Mina Campaign launch in Ekurhuleni he told the residents that there are almost half a million titles deeds that are yet to be given out in Gauteng.“Now these titles deeds are part of the land reform project that the governing party has embarked upon. The land reform project is that we should restore dignity to our people, we should undo the ravages of apartheid,” he said.“Our commitment to good governance and clean administration is a standing commitment”
